Pastor's Notes - Survey Responses
Council has been looking over the survey responses with intent to implement those which are most frequently stated in the responses. Due to the nature of the survey, responses were general in nature. With hopes of hearing more specifically what people are looking for, I will highlight about 4 areas in my next 4 newsletter articles. We are hoping you will respond to those areas that strike you. Please be as specific as you can in those responses. Thank you!
Over all the surveys were very positive. Thanks to all who returned them and thanks to all of you who work to make this the positive community it is.
The first area mentioned in the survey is an increase in "spiritual" programming. This could include more Bible Study, specific topics for discussion, even historical pursuits among other things. Current spiritual programming now includes Wednesday night Bible Study, prayer group, and some Open Forum sessions. Craig, myself, Lynn Kauppi, Kim Savage and others have shared in leadership. At times our Page Turners may discuss a book that, if not in itself "religious", raises spiritual issues for discussion. Mary Kunstman coordinates that group. Women's Bible Study has very vigorous discussions on a number of topics, including Bible Study. Though leadership and meeting locations rotate, Lori Jensen and Ruth Wootten are good contacts for this group.
What new groups would you like to form? Around what topics? When would you like to meet? Sundays during Sunday School hour (9:15am-10:15) or after worship on Sundays? Week nights? Lunch time? Other?? Are you more interested in topics such as prayer? In theology? More Bible Study? Bible Study that takes you through a book or is geared around topics? Historical issues? Faith and current issues? Christian Living? Perhaps an adult revisiting of confirmation or Lutheran doctrine/theology?
Furthermore, is there a particular type of activity/group that you would not mind leading or at least getting started? Perhaps it is something that would only meet a few times, then after pursuing a topic or activity would end.
Let me know what you might be looking for regarding programming that would speak to your spiritual needs and times that best fit your schedule. Next month: Property
